Dr. José Luis Lezama

Profesor-Investigador / Professor -Researcher

Dr. José Luis Lezama (4 de Junio de 1952), obtuvo el doctorado en Ciencias Sociales, con especialidad en Política Ambiental, por la Faculty of Environmental Studies del University College London, en el Reino Unido. El Doctor Lezama fue Director (2003-2009) del Centro de Estudios Demográficos, Urbanos y Ambientales (CEDUA) de El Colegio de México y es actualmente Director del Seminario Interdisciplinario sobre Estudios Ambientales y del Desarrollo Sustentable y Profesor-Investigador en la misma institución. Ha sido Profesor Visitante del Massachussets Institute of Technology (MIT) en el Departament of Air, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences, coordinando el capítulo sobre política ambiental y análisis institucional en el Mexico City’s Air Quality Project, dirigido por el Dr. Mario J. Molina. Fue Investigador Visitante en el Department of Population Dynamics de la Johns Hopkins University, en el World Resources Institute, en Washington D.C., en la Facultad de Arquitectura de la Universidad Católica de Lovaina, en Bélgica, en el Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po Paris), en el Institut National d’Études Démographiques (INED), Francia, en la Université de Paris X (Nanterre) y en el Instituto de Estudios Latinoamericanos (IELAT) de la Universidad de Alcalá de Henares, España. El Doctor Lezama fue también Editorialista (1996-2014) del Periódico Reforma, (periódico nacional en México) donde escribe sobre temas ambientales, urbanos, científicos, tecnológicos y sociales, Es Miembro del Comité Asesor del Programa Hábitat de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas. Recibió el Premio Nacional de Periodismo José Pagés Llergo 2008 por Periodismo de Medio Ambiente y fue Mención Honorífica en el Premio al Mérito Ecológico 2001.

This site aims to share some concerns about some of the things that take place in our country and the world at the present time. Try, above all, environmental problems, but also ventures into other contemporary issues. It is our relationship with nature and our attitude to it as humanity. It has to do with our culture, our values, our symbols, with the power relations in which we interact and through which we live the world. It also addresses issues related to science, technology, with urban and rural development, with ideas about our place in the world, our relationship with humans and nonhumans, and what we mean by that world human trying to present a vision in which nature is no longer seen only as a function of the utility that provides such natural resources as raw materials or as means to our achievement and begin to be considered as an end in itself, as the sustenance of life in general, essential basis of our existence. I hope we can share ideas, feelings and positions on this crucial relationship we have with and in nature.
